Pedodontics is the dental speciality that deals with the care of children’s teeth .The pedodontist is concerned with prevention which includes instructions is proper diet ,use of fluoride ,practice of oral hygiene and also deals with tooth decay and influence tooth alignment.
It is the procedure of removal of the entire pulp and subsequent filling of the canals of primary teeth with a suitable resorbable material. It is done in children with irreversibly inflamed teeth, presence of pus at pulp exposure site and minimum periapical pathology. It is usually performed in multiple sittings .
Once your child has a tooth , we recommend that your child receive fluoride treatment to help prevent tooth decay. This can be done 2-4 times per year. Fluoride varnish is a dental treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse./p>
Pedodontic crowns are given following pulpectomy or pulpotomy procedures ,enamel hypoplasia ,extensive tooth surfaces loss etc. Stainless steel crowns are commonly given .Polycarbonate and resin –veneered crown are also used.
